Frequently Asked Questions
Commonly Asked Questions
What can I expect on my first appointment?
After your free initial phone consultation (15-20 minutes), your first appointment will likely be an intake session. This structured interview allows me to learn about your personal history (e.g., family, medical, etc.), symptoms, and goals. Subsequent therapy sessions are tailored to your needs and focused on your goals.
When do you see clients?
At this time, I have limited availability. Please call (424) 209-8746 to schedule a free initial phone consultation. I typically see clients in the evenings on Monday or Tuesday nights.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I take Aetna insurance. For clients with other insurance carriers, I can provide you with a receipt or “superbill” to help you receive reimbursement from your insurance company as an out-of-network provider.
I have Aetna Insurance. How much is my copay?
Copays can range depending on your plan. Please check with Member Services to be clear on your copay amount and any deductibles before starting therapy services.
Do you take drop-in clients?
No, sessions are by appointment only.
How long will therapy last?
Therapy length varies for each individual. We’ll create therapy goals together to guide our work, whether it’s short-term (6-12 sessions) or longer-term. My aim is to equip you with tools and insights to continue your journey independently when you’re ready. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” providing an estimate of how much your mental health care will cost.
Is telehealth therapy effective?
Yes! Research shows that telehealth therapy offers the same benefits as in-person therapy. It’s particularly helpful for individuals with busy schedules or those facing barriers to in-person sessions. However, it’s important that you feel comfortable with the telehealth format.
